My mother was adopted, but no one will tell her so. At the age of 21, I have more life experience, more culture, and more understanding than either of my mother's sisters. Her remaining brother, I will not even mention, for you cannot see me roll my eyes.

I could have left the conversation. I could have gotten up and walked out of the Hospice...

Well I do not think either of those statements reflect badly on your mother but only reflect badly on the speaker of the statements. Sometimes with family it is just better to play nice and let such things slide by.

Or you could try to find ways to subtly remind them that such statements only reflect their own stupidity.

Cute hairdo. smile

You have a funny head.

Your family seems to know, magically, without having to try, how to make me not want to like them.

Boo.

I'll try, though. I promise.

For my mom's birthday, she and I and some of her friends (who are mostly my friends' parents) went out to Marin for a picknic and little hike. When we take food places, we don't do sandwiches and chips. We got out there and all pulled out our bags of communal food which inlcuded couscous, stuffed olives, smoked thai salmon, brie, gouda, chevre, olive bread,...

oooooo make a good collection of music for me to. smile

I love music but hardly ever listen to it since I got my good stereo system stoleh years ago... it is a major goal of mine to setup a nice stereo in the new house. Multi Zone (okay computer room, bedroom, living/dining/kitchen, all feeding off of the music loaded into Itunes on my PC...

It is doable and not terribly expensive but outside my reach right now. Probably end up with a Sonos system (www.sonos.com).

How is everything else in your new home?

your so sweet.... wink

Holy shit. I'm in California. I was going to take the drive down slowly, but ended up being anxious and cranky and surprisingly able to drive for 12 hour stretches, so it only took two days. The first day was ridiculously long because we happened to make a five hour detour. It was a test run, that's all. About 130 miles down I-5, I realized...

So maybe I'll get the tow hitch.
But after that fiasco, my bank still hasn't changed my address to the right one.
And then I lost my car key. I don't have a spare. I know it's in the house, but that's not a big comfort as it's a single key and a cluttered house and I'm sure my housemates will do little if anything...

i am going to kill someone at u-haul pretty soon. you'd think that five days and 200 dollars would be enough to get a tow hitch installed on my car, but because that process involves calling a 1800 number and getting them to set up something with the people closest to me who are then supposed to call me to set up the actual installation...

So I'm moving down to Davis, Ca. and I'm looking for jobs. My dad put in a word for me with a collegue who is a prof at Davis and she said she's looking for a research assistant to work at a mental hospital who would conduct interviews with clients who had been deemed not-guilty by reason of insanity. This is an incredible oportunity and...

Hour each way commute is a hell of a commute for a two year commitment... think long and hard on that.

Back/Neck is hurting not horrible but not good either. Poor little car.... frown Not sure about pay through the nose but maybe I will get a little something out of it... we shall see.

Seems that my passport was stolen when my car was taken. I've searched through everything and it is nowhere to be found. This is exciting because I'm supposed to go to Canada on Saturday. Now, I know what you're saying; "But it's Canada for Christ's sake. You don't need a passport to get to Canada." Well, the truth is that the entire world is...

Art is coming along. It looks like I'll actually have the three pieces by the end of next week, like I'm supposed to. I've been turning into a bit of an Artist, though, keeping odd hours, having horrible eating habits, unconsciously avoiding all of my friends and other engagements, but at the same time spending hours a day watching The Brady Bunch and Beavis &...

So I'm actually going to hang my art in Portland next month at some coffee shop. This means that I need to have three peices with no nudity in about a week. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm so excited about this, as I've never shown before... even though it's only a coffee shop.

So now I have about a million things...

I admit it. I love Dirty Dancing. And it's not because Patrick Suezy is a sexy man (although he is) and it's not because Baby's not that attractive but gets him anyway. It's because they're goofy together. It's hot. I love it. They lipsync songs for one another and it's ridiculous.

Nobody puts Baby in a corner.

What the fuck does that mean, anyway?

I have a sister who is two years younger than me, thanks to her I must've watched this movie a last 5 times. And do you know what - I really hate it. biggrin

Okay, it's not as bad as Titanic, but that's damn near impossible.

But I guess that a typical male/female-thing. I don't know one guy who likes Dirty Dancing but somehow all the girls seem to love it.

Oh it is most definitely driving prices and I am not complaining not at all. I moved here specifically because I felt it was an area that had a lot of potential. Now I do not want to live in the Pearl District but neither do I want to live amongst addicts and thieves and I suspect the neighborhood has more of the latter than the former... for now. It is rapidly changing and somewhere it will find balance and I am happy with that.

Other than that.... hmmm nothing exciting to report. Sorry....

Just waiting and watching to see if I will get any notice from the job I interviewed for.... grrr.. I would really like to get out of the one I am in that is for sure!

My adorable housemate has booked a show for our art together. I'm so happy about this. I don't even know how to say how happy I am.

And I'll be going to Canadia. Woohoo.
