Fair Warning:
Since I paid for this space, I care nothing about spoilers. Out of respect of my friends who may read this and not have seen it, I'll try my best not to spoil.

The Ring Two.

This movie sucked horrible, horrible dick. I wanted to start out by putting that point out there in a much more eloquent manner, but there is no way to put a finer point on this movie except to say this: It's A Sequel.

The plot, which follows Rachel and her son in the aftermath of watching Samara Morgan's video postcard from the edge, was cohesive but boring. only three deaths in the film, of which only one held my interest.

Jarring edits which try to complment the cursed tape's evil, broken tv style only accomplish in mocking it. Special Effects had a few high points, one of which being the Reversed water scene that many saw in the trailers. Unfortunately, makeup and digital effects fail to make Samara as effective as a villan or source of fear and little girl type evil that the first movie made her to be.

Acting is where this movie truly loses its footing. Naomi Watts phones it in during every scene. She even gets the obligatory "Water Cooler Quote" (think "Hasta la vista, baby). Gone is Daveigh Chase, the original's Samara and is replaced by Kelly Stables who foregoes any malevolance or substance that the character had and immediately becomes just another boo-saying movie monster.

David Dorfman returns as Aiden, the creepy son of Naomi Watt's Rachel. Dorfman seems to have crossed his Aiden with his character from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. T.C.M.-borrowed facial tics during one scene made the entire audience laugh out loud. He himself would this movie down one grade if i cared about such a scoring system.

All in all, this made for a miserable watching experience. If crowd reaction means anything, ten people were on their cell phones by the end of the first act. Of those ten, three or four had turned their phones BACK ON. I left this film wanting to look for my copy of The Grudge again and wishing I had gone to watch Ice Princess instead so I could at least get some eye candy from Michelle Trachtenberg.

This movie in one sentence:
I would not pee on this movie to put out a fire.
