I'm in Ottawa for Canada Day and the Blues Fest (at which we'll be seeing The White Stripes next Sunday). While here, I plan on getting another tattoo, seeing the three people I still care about in this city, drinking too much for polite company, and shocking my parents at least twelve more times.

My parents have cable, so it's a good thing that the baby sleeps in the same room as the TV, or I waste far too much time in front of the magic box. Its siren song is so much stronger when you haven't had the constant practice of blocking it out. Honestly, I'll be walking by a TV store and will stop to stare at the screens and pretty moving pictures because I'm completely not used to it any more. When the baby's awake, we're far too busy to sit down and watch anything. It works out.

And now, to go for a walk.
