I've felt busy the last couple of days. I've now heard tornado sirens go off around me twice and one of them the funnel touched down only a couple miles from the show in Jonesboro, AR the other night. We were about to get in the trucks and head out to go see Cirque Du Soleil's Alegria, when the sky went black / green, rain came out of no where, and then the hail started. I had enough time to grab some stuff and head to the building as the sirens started going off. The cell quickly cleared out to the east and we gathered our group and drove southeast towards Memphis for the night.
The trip to Memphis, TN / Southaven, MS was a lot of fun. We drove to Memphis and got what is said to be the best BBQ in town at the BBQ Shop. It's a little off the beaten path of downtown and Beale Street, but the food was great. After our dinner stop we drove to the arena and had a couple rounds of drinks before the show started. It was less attended than we expected but, it was still a good show and I was impressed with the feats completed by the performers. I was most impressed with the double contortion act and the solo gymnastic / hula hoop act. The clowns also did an extraordinary job at making all of the transitions for the show. After the show was done, one of the performers from our circus met up with someone who she knew from a previous show they worked together on and we all got a backstage tour. After the quick tour we piled back into the trucks and drove to the Flying Saucer in Memphis, which is just off of Beale street and met up with some of the technicians from Cirque. It turns out that one of the had previously worked one of our other circus shows, so I chatted with him for a while and I saw someone that I worked together with about 5 years ago who is now working for Cirque Du Soleil.
On top of going to see the show and talking to some of the people on Wednesday, I'm excited about a call that I got this morning. Cirque Du Soleil is setting up a phone interview with me for a position that I've been recommended for on one of their other touring shows. I have to call into a conference call next Thursday morning for the interview, which is super exciting. I'll be sad to leave the friends I've made on this circus if I leave, but I need to find a new place to continue growing and learning under different management. I don't feel that it would be in my best interest to continue training with the company that I'm currently under and not know how things are handled by similar companies.
Anyway, I should go shine some boots and get ready for work tonight because I only have 30 minutes left before I need to walk across the parking lot and get back to work for the night. I hope everyone is staying safe and hopefully there won't be any more major storms for me this season.

I can't even imagine how scary tornado sirens are. We barely get them here in MI, but it scares me to death. I live in a trailer......with no basement and no neighbors with basements. I'm hiding in the culvert with 3 dogs a pig and a duck. lmao
