Today was a great day today, mostly just compared to the last two. I feel so much more productive when I'm not being bothered by 15 people and their stupid desktop support requests. Things really got wrapped up today on projects, and new projects started to come to a start. As my new manager said, it's going to be a rough but fun ride this year as we attempt to instill security and control in a computing environment of 85+ users in HQ...an environment which has had none of either of those things before (hell, even our license compliancy is pure shit...). I also turned down a half-hearted offer to be our sys admin out in DC...I'd rather stick close to the decision-makers and not get shuttled off to a new facility...which is good, since my manager didn't want me to really say yes.
I need to get my laptop configured with my tools...but...I also want to play Wizardry Gold on it (and pray that somehow I can find out how to get sound blaster emulation on it to play Doom...Latitude LS with NeoMagic Audio drivers without SB emulation...)....
