I like that you think.... and I like that you feel things. It's impressive.

Elixa wrote that on my last entry, and that sort of prompted me to do m ynear-annual personality test hunt. I have not actually taken a test right recently, but I did look up some information on my personality type, iNFp The Healer. While this type if about 96% accurate for me, the scorpio in me is a bit less inclined to want to help people (he's a bit cynical), but it's still in my nature anyway. Of note, when I first got online in high school back around 1994, my first email address and nickname was TheThinker. My email address in college was also thinker@iastate.edu.

Personality tests and typing, while they should not be taken as some Bible or critique of oneself, can be a very insightful and important part of looking into oneself and ones ideals/values. In addition, reading about someone's personality type can impart a heck of a lot of understanding of those people. Read the following links, and you're reading a lot about me, in a nutshell.

http://www.geocities.com/lifexplore/infp.htm - I like this link a lot, as it is pretty informative. I don't have the emphasis on the internal 'ideal' that is described, for instance, I don't hold out for some ideal mate that will likely never happen. I also tend to share my feelings very well. Those are really the only things I don't agree with in this assessment, although I will note that while an iNFp in this description is a "Dreamer," I have a firm rooting in reality as well.

http://keirsey.com/personality/nfip.html - My only beef with this is that I don't actually see the world as an honorable place. I see nature as honorable, but not people. I tend to be very realistic and cynical about people...I could do without the lot of them.

http://www.personalitypage.com/INFP.html - A lot in this fits me as well, but my goal in list if not to see how best to help humanity. Instead, I am significantly more egoistic than that...but I will say, part of my purpose is to live in harmony with other people, albeit not outright help them. And I tend to be extremely considerate anyway...so it's close.

http://linus.highpoint.edu/~bblatchl/infp.html - This is a nice one, but I cringe at the statement, "INFPs do not like to deal with hard facts and logic." This is largely not true, as I tend to do very well with methodical and logical tasks. Granted, I hate the coldness of math, but things like scientific research, testing, and computer work/programming come very easy for me, and I enjoy the puzzles. However, I can feel the twinge of my personality yearning for the subjective human part of things, even in such logical endeavors.
