My birthday is just around the corner (12 June) So this topic from @rambo and @missy could not be better.
So for my entire childhood, all I wanted was a pool party despite my birthday falling in the heart of the bitter Winter, every year I would beg my mom for a pool party and every year she would remind me that it was a bit cold for that. This isn't a blog about a my pool party because that never happened.
The best birthday I had is kind of a strange one. It wasn't a notable age and nothing life changing happened but there are few times I have had such a strange and fun night. A night club opened up in JHB and it was the subject to a lot of attention and mockery and I decided that this was the place I needed to see.
It was in every way as ridiculous as I had expected. I went with a bunch of friends and an open mind and embraced the fuckery of Avastar. I got so drunk I was carried home and I would change nothing about that night of youthful stupidity.
Putting myself out of my comfort zone is something I have learnt to embrace over the years.
