My beloved Luna passed away about 3 years ago now. Ive never not had a cat, for any length of time anyway, but Luna was by far the one that touched me in the deepest place. Dont know why really. She was a fairly unremarkable DLH, mostly white, seemingly part Siamese with a buff colored crown. But she was extremely endearing in the way that she demonstrated her affection with little kitty kisses on the nose. She was born to a feral mother but unlike most wild cats, she took to humans very easily. And she had a most unusual means of drinking water. She would, of course, drink in the ordinary way that cats do, but more often than not, she would form her right paw into a little cup and scoop the water up to her mouth. Not very efficient but very entertaining. Ive never known another cat to do that. Anyway, she died of renal failure. The vet thought it was pretty unusual, she was only about seven years old, so we authorized an autopsy. Turns out, she was born with only one kidney, and that was somewhat atrophied. So I buried her in the back yard and its been three years since Ive felt like I wanted another cat.

Then just the other day, a friend of ours notified us that she had found a litter of kittens without a mother roaming around her neighborhood. She took them in temporarily and we went over to have a look. We decided to adopt two of them. (The mother was subsequently found dead, apparently hit by a car.) So $320 later, the vet tells us they are healthy and will make good pets. They are definitely human shy, but at only about 10 weeks age, were betting they will eventually adapt very nicely. In the mean time they are romping and stomping all over the house and now they can live their lives without a constant sense of fear and apprehension.

Naming now becomes our challenge. Theres a male (the smallest of the litter) and his calico sister. Ive started calling them Little Bugger and Princess Pussy but of course those will never do. Its tough to find names that fit the creatures so were just continuing to watch and get to know them a little better. In the mean time, its nice once again to be living in a cat house.

I've always had the attitude that SGs are just girls that don't fit into any single "category". But some people have a definite idea of what an SG is. And for the most part I usually don't fit into that ideal.
*shrug*
It doesn't bug me or anything. Just an observation.
