I have to say this has been a roller coaster of a week and I'm drained. We're moving into the end of the semester, and my workload is in overdrive. I teach writing classes, and they raised the number of students allowed in my classes. What they don't think about when they do that, though I've said it to them over and over again, is when they add what they consider a measly five students to my creative writing class, they've added 20 students to my workload because I teach 4 creative writing classes, and my work is ALL reading student papers and writing comments on them. 20 more students overall makes a difference and I'm really feeling it right now.
We're having problems with Neo's disability and the Social Security Administration again--same issue that's come up and been resolved about 18 times in the past two years. They 100% agree his back injuries are severe and qualify him for benefits, so that's not the issue. It's over the ticket to work program he was a part of with them when he was still able to do some part time work, and all kinds of junk from 2003. We need the money he gets to make ends meet. Our house is a fixer upper and we haven't been able to do much of anything to it yet, and one of our living room windows is boarded up because of rotten wood, etc.
My dad lost his job when I was a kid and we had to get out of our house right away because it was new and more than they could afford. We spent months living in my uncle's camper before dad found work and we found a house we could afford. I started working myself at age 14 and worked my butt off to pay my way through college, with the help of a couple of scholarships I won and a small student loan---which I did pay back.
All this--and here I am at 48 living in a house with a boarded up window, in spite of my job and Neo's efforts to keep us afloat. Luckily, our mortgage is fixed rate and affordable, so I won't end up living in a camper again, but still.... I know we're all struggling financially these days. It's just really getting to me right now, with this continued crap with Social Security. I'm just so tired of the constant worry over money....years of it now.
The fighting in the Geezer group--which I caused and which I've apologized for--has hurt me beyond words.
Sorry for the whine. It's been a hard week.

My goodness what a time.....SSA can be a royal PITA, but they are usually helpful. I've lived in my car at a few darktimes so I feel your pain there! Thanks for recognizing my all time favorite cowboy, Jack Elam!
He was not even an actor when he hit Holly wood, he was an accountant! Good luck, Peace Bill
