Tonight's our first wedding anniversary. We went out to dinner and that's about the extent of it, for now, because we've spotted people watching our house at night twice now since the burglary July 31, and we aren't leaving the house empty. One of us is always home. Neo's had a ton of art activities going on (sold a painting yesterday. Yeah!) so, that's all translated into me staying home almost non-stop while Neo is out.
The last few days, our internet has been out, too, so I am absolutely going stir crazy with all this. A friend came over and stayed at our house tonight so we could go out to dinner. Big change from last year's wild ride in the mustang convertible in Vegas on Aug. 14!
Even a couple of local cops we know have said not to leave the house empty until we get the security systems installed. They've been driving by regularly, but they know there's a couple of different groups who case out houses for burglaries in this area and they said our suspicions of catching people watching the house are not just cases of the nerves. We've got all the security stuff in the works, but it just isn't done yet. So we have to get babysitters for our house, of all things, to both go out anywhere.
Looking forward to the birthday/anniversary do-over once we get, you know, burglar alarms, surveillance systems, concertina wire, moats with alligators in them, machine gun turrets built, etc. in place. Sigh.
