Hi all,
Below is a short-short story of mine. I've posted it before, but it was before I got to know a bunch of the geezers, etc., and really spent much time talking to people on this site. If you have the time, read through it and let me know what you think. If you like it, send some of your friends or other geezers...

Nice to meet you, too!

I'm very familiar with Paducah. Although, I've only been there once. And, I've been to Robards, once or twice. Just this weekend, Robards was mentioned on the local news out of Evansville. (nothing big. I think it was just weather temps) I had to laugh, because one minute they call it ROB-erds and the next minute it's Row-BARDS .... A rose by any other name, I guess.

Good story. Really makes me remember getting my Ink.

Finally got a house security system set up. We've got a few more things to do, like flood lights on the side of our house that faces the alleyway, but we've got everything wired and such with ADT to keep the place safer. Yeah! Neo and I can leave the house at the same time! We've been taking turns staying home so the house was...

Glad the security system is all set up. When we bought our house that is the first thing we had installed. We live a good neighborhood but better safe then sorry.
Good luck with school starting. I loved creative writing in college... Unfortunately, I was never very good at it.
Hope you had a great weekend. And I think you are being very wise about the photos.
mrsted_stryker:
I will be ok. Just need to stay positive!

Thanks doll! I havent spoken to NeoPop ina bit? He ok? I am gonna head over there now to go bug him! wink

Tonight's our first wedding anniversary. We went out to dinner and that's about the extent of it, for now, because we've spotted people watching our house at night twice now since the burglary July 31, and we aren't leaving the house empty. One of us is always home. Neo's had a ton of art activities going on (sold a painting yesterday. Yeah!) so, that's all...

kisses to all who sent birthday wishes. I needed that! Our house was broken into on my b'day, our computers the only thing stolen, luckily, and all pets and my stepson were all okay. Still, spent my b'day talking to stepson, cops (long distance) and calling banks, credit card companies, etc. and rescheduling our return flight from Kentucky to asap.
Neopop promises a birthday do-over...

Turn 48 in a week, plus we'll be in Kentucky at my mother's house on my b'day. Double-whammy! Whew. Hopefully, the trip will only age me a year and not more. smile Neopop is about to experience summer humidity in the south for the first time. I expect lot's of complaining, fainting, sweating, swearing, general discontent and disbelief.
Just love going back to visit the family!...

Just survived a week of staying up all night and catching a few hours sleep here and there during the day while hubby, Neopop, pulled together work for an art show that went up and opened Friday night. He has some great pieces in the most hoity toity gallery in town--pieces done with a few SG hopefuls working as his models (thanks Val Gal and...

I know it's tough sleeping without them isn't it?? Once you get used to having them next to you in bed like that!

Sending you a friend request, seems that since I'm hanging out at your husband's place so frequently that we prolly oughta get to know each other! wink

Now, get some rest woman! tongue
flashmo:
HA! I beat Jewelz to it.

And, yeah, she is mine.

Hey all,
I'm a prose writer, not a poet, but the hubby wants some really short imagistic pieces he might be able to work into his artwork. So I'm giving it a shot. I don't think this even has to be broken up into lines, but, eh...what the heck. Don't know that he'll use this at all, but it's practice for me, if nothing else....

Makes me wonder what happened to her. I think it would be cool if you turned it into a short story, or a long one.

PS
I've never actually read ralph ellison. i am going to make it a poitn to when i am done with school. the reference comes up quite often.

i appreciate the idea of a collection, there are a couple other communities that i belong to that have offered that to me. The problem is, there are people in the world that have it much, much worse than me, and i would rather see donated money go to a cause that can help many, rather than just help one.

I'll get by if i play the finances right, if i watch my spending and stay away from extravagances. I definitely appreciate the offer though.

Years back, when I was still single, I had a much younger lover, in his early 20's. He was an artist, flirted with the Goth scene, etc. I was (and I suppose I still am) about 15 plus years older than him. I HATE that term "cougar" so don't even go there.
Anyway, he once said to me he thought he was "too bohemian" for...

BTW that long flower comment was hilarious.

That's what I was trying to get at, Lizabeth!! You nailed it. "I have become more myself through this process." I think that's exactly it. Until you're tested in those rebellious ways, they're nothing but rebellious ways.... Damn, we are two cool older chicks! lol. wink

I'm sporadic with the blogs. Write and read writing for a living, so I think I'd rather look at the pictures when I'm here. blush Anyway, I've got my summer off. My husband (NeoPop on SG) is making some kick-ass art; we've got two kittens added to our overload of pets, the iguana's tail finally grew back, and so on and so on. It's been a...

Ink
By Luky S.

This time, she could watch the pinpricks of blood well up and mix with the colors. Her blood was so dark, a burgundy against the bright yellow, green and blue stains.
The tattoo artist was a friend. A guy decorated from neck to toe in design, a guy known all over for his Japanese samurais and fawning geishas and his heavy...

My weekend starts today, but I have soooo much to do. I'd so much prefer a decent book and soft couch, hours and hours in my favorite man's arms, and maybe a little Halloween madness! C'mon--play devil on my shoulder and talk me into ignoring work and laundry. Make naughty, playful suggestions for how I should spend my time. wink

Burlesque is awesome, though at 5'2" I couldn't see much--even with my big-ass platform boots on! I saw the top half of the show, at least. Ha! I vote for venues with a slightly slanted floor next time for us shorties who really are shorties! My man tells me the show was hot, top and bottom half. He's taller. smile Best parts--Nixon's old school fan/glove dance,...

Wow, you're fast on that one! They used to get some skinny little guy so drunk he passed out. They painted his entire body with glue. It would dry while he was sleeping it off. When he woke up and moved, all the glue would crack and start curling up a bit like skin that's peeling off. And----ta-da--an alligator man.

Hmm, I just kind of write as it comes on the blog, its rough cut there and polished later on paper. I am usually talking to someone or looking at pics when it goes up. This is just sort of where I can let my thoughts out without having to worry about any of the other stuff really....its my....pressure release valve I guess you could call it.
