Me and some friends (back when I was in South Dakota) gave our friend a choice, rehab or jail. Needless to say he went to jail. hated to do it but he was way past anything we could personaly do.

Believe me, (and I remember when my world was like that color changing picture of yours) and I'm sure you remember how it was too. You have to think about what is best for you (not them). Sometimes, for whatever reason, putting others first becomes very important to onesself. But you cannot be an enabeler, and that's where most people would go wrong. It sounds lke you know what's up with that though. Other than that, there really is not very much you can do besides walking away or turning them in. I've had friends, co-workers, and loved ones try to invervien and it dosent really do anything. I remember going to a funrel of an addict (who I had known forever) only to go home and get high myself. Eventually I lost all the friends, still had my parents, but I had abandond them. It was a wonderfully lonly world that I lived in. I guess I wasn't worth anyones efforts.

But hey, I wouldnt want anyone do anything so I'd treat most people the same way. I guess I always felt that Iknew I was gonna come out of it eventually so I had a general additude of 'fuck-off'.

You might want to ask yourself who is this person to you. Are they someone that you would want to be with if you were strranded on an island and you could only take one person? if not, you might want to save yourself the energy. We all have the right to self destruct (I'm not saying that it IS right (or wrong)) but it is, simply, our right.

I guess the real questions are: what's the point? what would you get out of it? would your life be any better (or just less annoying)? how would taking some sort of action (walking away, calling help, whatever the case may be) impact your day-to-day way of life?

Sometimes you really need to take a few steps back and watch what's really going on for a while. In situations like this, that outside perspective is important because you need to know what you are doing, not what you think you are doing.
