* JUNE 20th *

* AN UPDATE IS COMING! *

Thanks to all of you for not dropping me off your friend's lists. I am alive and well - I've just been consumed by 1) the end of the school year, 2) planning my wedding (LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AWAY!!! eeek ), and 3) moving the rest of my crap from Philly to Wheeling and renting out my house. Yes, it's been a crazy past couple of weeks.

I haven't even checked my email since April. I probably have 100 million messages - all for dick-lengthening cream, no doubt.

I will elaborate more on my life later. I must go to bed.

=================================================

It's 3:30 AM and I'm not tired.

I have to go to work in about 4 1/2 hours.

I won't get home from work tonight until about 10PM.

What the fuck am I thinking?!

I've committed "journal-adultery". I now have an account on "MySpace". Not because I'm sick of SG (far from it) - and I NEED another online account like I need a hole in my head - but because I've found out that the majority of my students are online on MJ and I thought it might be fun to comment in their journals, etc.

So I set up an account and I'm all ready to go (I found a ton of them) and then right before I started commenting to them and requesting "friendships", I froze up. I started thinking to myself, "What if this isn't such a good idea"? I mean, these kids are online because, I assume, they want a forum where they can post their innane banter to each other without fear of adults "looking in on them". I assumed this because some of their information is rather personal - tales of them drinking/smoking/hating school/hating life/etc.

Would it be really invasive if they knew one of their teachers could very well read this stuff? I mean, it's online so it's public info. But were they expecting a bit of privacy regardless of the "reality"? Or do you think they'd appreciate interacting w/ a teacher in a non-traditional format? I have a very open relationship w/ my students - the majority of them like talking to me outside of the class. Would this be an extension of that or would this be taking it "too far"?

I want your input and advice. Let me know what you think I should do.

Favorite student anecdote of the week

Some of my students wrote the following note to their geometry teacher (who is a born-again Christian) and left it on his desk:

Dear Mr. R--------,

It has come to my attention that this bright and cheery group of students is about to take a test for which they are not prepared. I know you want to give it to them, but I think I had better step in and drop a little knowledge. Don't do it. I'm serious. Nothing pisses me off like knowing my little lambs are about to be lead to the slaughter. Give them some more time - maybe a review sheet. Don't ignore this. Remember who's boss. I'm watching you.

Best regards,

Jesus of Nazareth

God, I love those little fuckers. smile

Awww... I love that you remember me for your Milestone Posts.

"beg for buttermilk"?

Yesterday Ray was looking through some of my old photo albums, and he commented "Don't take this the wrong way, but you are definitely hotter now than you used to be." He's completely right. I am getting hotter as I get older... wait til I'm 55! I'll be a knockout!

haha... biggrin

oh but somehow you found the WORST PICTURE EVER to post in the Philly group. My eyes are half shut. I look stoned! I'm not!
