"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself"
~Nietzsche

So this quote really has never been more true to me than now. The struggle has been long, when you refuse to conform to the "tribe" (society). But now turning 30 and being pleasantly happy about who I am makes me a living example of this quote.
So many things come and go....years just blending as they pass by...pages of my life turning so fast I have paper cuts on every finger....
But this chapter, 2011, I think will be the start of the peak of my book of life.
I have found that unconsciously I have let go of a lot of things from the past, totally awesome nostalgic things and fucking horrible things, and put them behind me.
I am standing in front of a new year, turning 30, and the end of my college education (for now at least).
I will come out with a degree under my belt, the satisfaction for once in my life I know who I am and I dig her, and hopefully am proceeding with forward progress to a successfully awesome career! wink

I hope everyone out there in SGland had an awesome New Year's and is ready for another passing chapter of life...... I sure am!

Nietzsche is a very interesting thinker and although not my favourite has a lot of wise things to say.

I have a book Why I Am So Wise It is full of this sort of comment.
He also wrote I know my fate. One day there will be associated with my name the recollection of something frightful, of a crisis like no other before on earth, of the profoundest collision of conscience.

It is often taken that this refers to the rise of fascism and the Second World War.

Enough of that though.

Finding your way through life and becoming comfortable with who you are, an individual who dares to stand apart from the crowd and be who you want to be is an achievement worth celebrating.

Have a great day.
