went for dinner at a house in ritzy north van this evening.. friend's mother's boyfriend's brother's place.. his 'treehouse' - this place is insane. i don't even have the proper eloquence of architecture speak to properly portray the zen (in the indo-european sense) of this house.

i did manage, however, to violate nearly every rule set in place for the guest of a guest in a rich person's home..

finished off the last of their $500 bottle of wine.
called the host pretentious at the dinner table.
had seconds of everything when no one else did, making everyone sit around waiting for me to finish
i'm so certain i was talking with my mouth full, whilst gesturing with my cutlery.
commented on the presumptuous nature of the wife's shopping habits (she calls ahead to stores and they pull her sizes from shelves and reserve her a change room for when she arrives)
and i was a little too chummy with their dog. (their only child)

so other than that, it went pretty well. damn good salmon.. and i do love my salmon.. bbq'd on a cedar plank, baby. you would have had seconds too...

disclaimer - calling the host pretentious was in response to his calling me a bitch. during dinner. within 20 minutes of having met the man. fair game, i thought.

seriously though, all in fun. lovely people, amazing house, decadent food and wine.. we just 'got' eachother's humor and flew from there. my little bex's family is my surrogate family. i was flattered to get the invite.
