[jetsetter lucid returns to the homeland]

marathon florida was quite a thing. i met way too many old sea dogs. they like to hang out at the local dive (castaways, right on the water, just right of the towers of fishing crates). played a dice game with the locals called ship, captain, crew (the nautical theme seemed a bit overkill) for quarters. highly addictive when youve been pounding 75 cent drafts during happy hour.

that nite we returned to the picnic table by the dock to drink a couple bottles of wine and smoke joints. this was done in the company of my old man, his neighbor carl, a local named jessica, and the guy people call monkey-faced dave (behind his back). this fellow had been out to sea a bit too long. he bogarted the conversation way too much, but in the process i learned he had partied with THE Hunter S Thompson. apparently Hunter was on acid (!) and pulled out a revolver to shoot things on the ceiling. sounds like a Hunter story to me.

what. a. culture. a crazy community of seafaring lushes, all very nice, but jeez. ill get some pics up when i return.
