So I made this:
The weird thing is I'm writing 'spaceship sci-fi' and it's hard to get women to pick that up and read it because, let's be honest, the sub-genre is dominated by 'dudes go shooty-shooty' and a readership known for toxicity.
The weird thing is, I'm writing women with agency in a character driven story and I'm actually proud of the fact this in the entire first book, there's only one discharge of a hand-held firearm, so getting the usual crowd to pick that up and read it hard...
You see my problem.
So maybe my friend was right and what she said is exactly how I need to pitch it. It's a horse-girl story, but the horse is a sentient spaceship... basically the same thing, right?
