It is the case that there was less cause for more mature violence and language in book one... That's just how it played out and I wasn't going to force it in for the sake of it but the mood is definitely shifting in the sequel. Perhaps this is good - a subtext on the deterioration of the circumstances our heroes (and less than heroes) face. We certainly go a little deeper into life in the Deep System than we did in book one and as you might expect, one does not shovel soil and uncover roses.
