Yasmine Uhlins departure (2008)

Yasmine announced her departure from the band in November 2008 in Hamburg at the last concert of the Out Of line festival tour.

She explained the departure:

Why I am doing this is not because of lack of energy or love for the band. There are no grudges to be held and the air within Ashbury Heights is free from any pollution. You see, this is something I have to do. I need to let go in order to build something of my own. I've been fighting myself in this matter for a long time but I can't change what I truly feel.

Following Yasmines departure, many of the fans were very upset since they thought that Yasmine had a hand in the creation of the music and that the music were going to change because of that. But since it had only been Anders who had written both music and lyrics the fans didnt have to worry.

Kari Berg joins the band (2008)

Anders started to search for a new singer and then found the Swedish-Norwegian model / singer / actress Kari Berg. She had focused mostly on singing opera before joining the band even though the music she listened to was mainly 80s Goth.

So in November 2008 it got announced that she was the new female vocalist in Ashbury Heights.

The first time Anders and Kari met was when Anders and Yaz were photographed for the EP 'Morningstar in a Black Car'. Kari was assisting the photographer whom she also had done several photoshoots with. They didnt spoke to each other then since both were very focused on getting the shoot good, but who knew that this was the beginning for something more.

So when Anders needed a new singer he found Kari on Myspace and asked her if she would be interested to be the new female vocalist in the band. She answered yes without second thought and moved directly to Gothenburg to record.

Kari was already known to some before she joined the band. She is a well-known fashion & alternative model.
