I was looking for a pick today and found a pick my friend got from a music convention ... from good ol' dimebag himself. I didn't know I even had it. I must have borrowed it at a jam and forgotten to give it back. He went there with his brother and sister, and they say he was completely down to earth, with none of the rockstar pretention you get with other musicians.
I never met him, but did see him after a show when he dropped in at Springfields (long since dead) in Kings Cross. Bands or band members would drop into this place from time to time after doing a show ... sometimes doing a surprise set(not on this occasion).
If people weren't looking and pointing him out I would never have recognised him. He was shorter than I imagined and looked just like any metalhead there. Except he had minders.
