the past few days have been ultra nice.
suri cat hid in my arms and cowered under jackets and duffel bags during the travel chapters of so-far-vacation (he's having fun though now with his long lost siblings). after i got into town, my dad and i watched "apocalypto" at ktown's new castle eyesore. it was action. that's really the best and only way to describe it. i also watched "the fly" on direct which has to be one of the best horror movies ever made. jeff goldblum is such a hot geek until his flesh starts falling off and geena davis is afraid that she will give birth to his giant fly larva. grooossssssss. fbg was cold and rainy the one night i stayed and snow flakes started falling as i was leaving for grandma's house.
i gave my brother and sister their gift flasks on the way to a kind of cocktail party with second and third cousins (minus the cocktails because a recovering alcholic hosted) which turned out to be an excellent decision. my sister was packing rum in the backseat of the car. then awkward family time ensued with people i only see once a year (no i don't want to hear about your mission trip to africa again and again (ok martyr), no i don't want to hear the vivid description of uncle greg's knee surgery or talk about other gross medical conditions in precise detail, no i don't want to explain what i plan on doing with my major and mapping out the rest of my life every 5 minutes). i ate so much delicious spinach dip i could've died. and i love socks. i think they are the best gift ever invented. socks are the one thing i never buy, but always need, so when my sock supply is replinished with bright new colors and sappy holiday designs, i get really excited. i'm not even kidding. it was also enjoyable to hear my aunt make provocative jokes with her husband and talk about her 70's drug memories (which, justly, she doesn't remember much of) like skinny dipping in a golf course pond.
i love my family, even though they are serious freaks for the most part.
other good things include playing god of war non-stop with my brother, being 50 pages away from finishing "y.s.k.o.v." by eegers, watching "the constant gardener" (rachel weiss is gorgeous and the plot of the movie is absolutely terrifying! drug companies and conspiracy theories. that HAS to be occuring somewhere in africa. no doubt. another addition to my list of reasons why i dislike taking pills), crocheting that makes my grandma impressed, and... A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN (for family gathering part 2 tonight). mmm i can't wait for fresh pineapple and seven layer dip and the tamales that i can't eat but make everything feel more like xmas. gluttony! yes!
i also have about a trillion pictures and the chaos isn't even over yet/hasn't even really begun... and starting my period today is awesome. yeaaahhh... my tolerance of televised football and family members that enjoy playing 20 questions just decreased by about 75%
