hello my lovelies.
how are you all today?
i'm fine. at work killing time before i have to go to class. i'm going to have nothing to do in the office for the next 3 weeks because our last paper for '07 runs thursday - so if you know of any interesting sites online, let me know.
school is turning out to be less stressful than i was worried about before the break. i'm also just excited because the semester is almost over.
earlier in my french class i paired up with this nice girl (who happens to be fluent in arabic) to give our oral presentation (yeah yeah). i thought i was going to have to do it alone because no one was getting into groups, but i lucked out because her partner suddenly dropped the class. muaha! she had also talked to the teacher about just memorizing a piece of a french play, so while the rest of the class is worrying about sentence structure and verb conjugation, i'll just be worrying about... umm... not worrying really. i DO need to practice my pronunciation though. so that makes me twice as lucky and less worried about my grade. that's going to go down monday.
also on monday my medieval europe document analysis is due. our final is going to be cumulative. gross.
so that only leaves my gender in latin america research paper due this week (wednesday). i originally wanted to write it specifically on women in mayan religion, but there just aren't enough sources. that is definitely one historical/anthropological area that is kind of uncharted. so i'm broadening my topic to women in mesoamerican religion. a funny little bit of info relevant to SG is how important body mods were to mesoamerica (mainly documented in aztec culture). from my notes:
human sacrifices were marked on hip/chest. people not going into religion as a field of work ("regular" citizens) had their lips pierced. ear spools (plugs) were given to boys age 15 going into non-religious work life and to girls the same age getting married. variations in labret piercings marked achievements in warfare. etc etc.
i guess i'm out for now. i would be psyched to go home and play my new keyboard, but it came without an ac adapter. LAME! i just don't understand how you can pay so much for something and get so excited when it arrives at your door and you get all amped and set it up only to find that you are unable to use it. neither best buy nor walmart have any ac adapters right now. and they cost like $60! booo
yeah yeah. anyway.
i hope it rains today. i wonder if i have any hot chocolate at home
