The stress is peeling away today. I went to my appointment with the Student Services Counselor at St Lawrence College and a lot of answers were forthcoming.

1. OSAP - the kafuffle about my student loan is cleared up and I will be receiving money in September. This means I do not need to work like a maniac during the school to cover my bills and educational costs. HUGE RELIEF. In mid- September I'll find out if grant money is part of this biggrin

2. Learning Disability - my first round at college was over five years ago and I was diagnosed with Central Audiotory Processing Disorder. I spoke with the counselor at this school and I will be provided with a professional note taker in the first semester and a student note taker in the second semester. All this is dependent on my documentation. I am contacting the appropriate office at Sault College (my former alma mater) for the papers. If they were not archived - it's no problem. St Lawrence College will have me assessed by the mobile assessment team.

Another happy and hopeful thought associated with my documentation is grants for technology to assist my learning. My counselor wants me to look into a new laptop (SQUEAL) and this brilliant gadget called "LiveScribe". I will blog about those more in the future as I research.

In short, I feel positive about my future and about the healthy changes I am making to my lifestyle.

Vive le vie de bonne sante!

Yay for OSAP!!

I went to university many years ago. I got sick and couldn't continue. Wish I could go back. But there's no way I could afford it, even just a single course. Tuition and books cost too much.

And I still owe thousands in student loans. Though thankfully, they had my doctor fill out some forms about me being sick and so they don't bother trying to collect the money.

Good luck with school!
