Brent's movie reviews for July(so far)

Napolean Dynamite:
Saw this one last tuesday, it was very obscure and great at the same time, most of the laughs in the movie are what i call "what the heck!" laughs (where something really weird and obscure occurs).

The characters are very fun to watch, and I left the theatre feeling better about being radically different from most of society.

Overall it was a very unique film and i definetly say i haven't seen anything like it before (in regards to a movie, i knew a few guys in high school that were like some of the characters though).

It succeeds at providing a much realer image of what being socially inept is like in our society than previous movies. I was particularily pleased with the fact that the outcasted characters were not changed into Mr. or Ms. Popular, like most "nerd" movies ... B+

Spiderman 2
Even better than the first. The character developements of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson really go a lot deeper and give you something more to relate to. The action sequences were pretty cool and the dialog wasn't as corny as the first one was. There are parts of the movie that might even be inspirational to some. ... B+

Anchorman
Will Farrell's best onscreen performance so far. This movie does a very good job on hitting the audience with lots of different types of humor.

I was afraid that t.v. commercials and movie trailers were really gonna give away all the good lines and jokes in the movie, but most of the stuff in the commercials are out of the way in the first 3 or 4 minutes, leaving you with a movie full of new material.

My fav. thing about this movie was all the cameos, there were so many wild characters played by very beloved comedians (not gonna give away who, that was half the fun)...A-

Fahrenheit 9/11
Michael Moore took a lot of flak for this movie, almost as much as our troops took in response to Bush's "Bring it on" comment challenging Iraqis to attack our troops. (The same troops who were later said to be "liberating" them, after no WMD and connections to Al Queda were found.) I think the film was put together pretty well.

Despite what most the media is saying it does not have a lot of opinions from Michael Moore in it. Additionally, the parts that are Moore's opinions are very clear that they are opinion; he doesn't muddle them up with the facts and documentation he provides in the film.

Michael Moore, himself, is in this movie a lot less than his privious movies. It mostly is clips from George W. Bush and his regime and a history lesson about what our "left wing" media (if you listen to republicans) has not told us about Bush during his time in office.

It does not have as many facts as his book "Dude, Where's My Country" (that the film was mostly drawn from). The movie provides a lot more of the entertaining facts about what has happened the past 4 years under our noses. Which I feel makes the movie a lot easier to watch than it would have been if Michael Moore put ALL the dirt he had on the Bush Administration in the film.

A lot of key issues were brought up that are not typically on the minds of Americans, but very well should be. Overall it was a great documentary, that educates and evokes a wide ray of emotions from the audience (laughter, anger, sorrow)...A-
