I just finished reading The Talisman, a book I've been meaning to get around to for years. I liked it. That's the second book in a row I've read that has two authors. I couldn't really spot any difference in styles, which makes me wonder how on earth they organise the writing for such things.

I have an old and *really* battered copy I got from some secondhad store (I has a sticker on the spine that makes me think it once lived in a library of some kind). It's interesting how the cover design was obviously based on marketing the thing with King's reputation, rather than what's actually in the book. "The Ultimate Experience in Terror!". Hmmm, not really. It's more of a farytale in places.

Anyway, I'm done with it now, so if you'd like to read it next, let me know and I'll send you it.

So what next? I have the sequel (Black House), and a whole load more King (Someone bought me the Dark Tower boxset, and I've also got The Stand). Then there's 1984 and Stephenson's Cryptonomicon that have been haunting my bookshelf for far too long. Going in a whole other direction I have Lives Of The Monster Dogs and Ecotopia. I got Ecotopia from an online secondhand bookstore. Imagine my delight when it arrived and I found it not only to be in good condition, but also to contain a bookmark made from a flattened and laminated 'Evening Magic' condom box. "Congratulations! You are about to enjoy the finest product of it's kind".

Oh, and in other news...

Internet dating is a logistical nightmare. I am currently dating two girls (sadly, not at exactly the same time), neither of whom seem particularly bothered by this fact. Which I have to say, is surprising. Still, this is not a situation I can forsee lasting, so I will do the decent thing and, er, do something about it this week. Once I figure out what that something is.

To drive the STi, you must make your peace with the fact that's it's impossible to change up out of first smoothly, unless you go really slowly which pretty much defeats the whole object. If you do it fast, there's a definite lurch, and your head gets firmly planted back on the headrest. The turbo whistles up and you get a great snarling noise from the engine. Cue ear-to-ear shiteating grin.

Oh, and I added a pic of it here

Yeah, I just had a few things I needed to get off my chest. A bit of an ironic love letter, wouldn't you say? confused

Oh, and having your affection split like that is so totally nervewracking. I know.
