Ok, it's a bit into the semester now, and I think things are going well.
I have a regular meditation schedule, which has helped me relax after a tough day, and even get some work done when I would otherwise feel too drained. My on-campus time is spread out over all five days of the week, and not concentrated on three. I have gotten enough reading done and meaningfully so to participate actively in my seminars. If I get to work on both papers sometime next week, I might manage to pull in at least one solid A this term, not the A minuses I got last year. I've also split my leisure reading into home and campus, so I've been reading two novels at a time even with my class reading. My pace is slower, but i get more variety that way. I've also taken more control of my entertainment choices, so I don't feel like I'm wasting my brain on useless crap. Thankfully, Tara and I have managed to keep our conversation quality higher than last year. I owe it all to regular meditation. The mind stays relaxed and open, does not overwork itself, and everything falls into place. As above, so below.
It'd still be nice to have a secondary. i haven't dated anyone in a while, and the last one was BAD. I also don't get out among new people as much, so it's not like I've worked through a succession of turn-downs. At this point, I have to just take a passive attitude, let whatever come my way. I don't have the energy to put into finding a girlfriend who'll put up with a guy in grad school, and who's poly. Either one alone can be hard enough. I love Tara. She rocks.
