Today, I made a time sacrifice to Greyface and did my taxes (gasp). For the record, I rarely do my taxes because I've never mad enough to be required to file. Before you tell me that I should file so that I can get a refund, for the last several years, I've worked for public universities, making me a state employee who didn't have any taxes taken out. I did file a few years back while I was working for the writing center, and I got all of 70 bucks back from state and nothing from federal. I'm really not one to waste my time for governments when there's nothing in it for me. Hence, I don't vote, either.

This year, my taxes in the States were incredibly uninteresting. Nothing I made this year in the US counts as income, especially when measured against my tuition, so I get nothing back at all. I filed those before I understood the nuances of that, so I did waste my time there. Canada, on the other hand, was a different story. The Canadian government owes me enough to cover the hotel room and car rental for our trip to LA, so I can at least feel less bad about that part of it. Well, less financially irresponsible. I feel great about the whole thing, expenses be damned.

However, shit like doing taxes really saps my strength, so I didn't do a great deal of school work. I'll have to get cracking again over the weekend. The good news is that I'm not behind at all, so no worries.

It makes my skin crawl too.

Anyway, I'll be continuing on with Spanish language literature; my speciality is modern Latin American fantastic fiction. It's delish.
