Tonight I did my last shift in the computer labs. I mean that, too, my LAST shift. As in, next term, I have a different TA assignment taking up the six hours left over after my Asian philosophy class, so I don't have to deal with those labs at all. Instead, I have to grade papers for intro to moral theory, which I find funny because I have very little interest in moral theory at all. I might do some work in social/political philosphy in my PhD, depending on where I end up, and I definitely will in my personal work, but most of what I've run into in ethical theory comes across as either too prescriptive (various justifications of telling people what to do) which I disagree with because I think just about everything ends up relative ultimately (i.e. from a large enough perspective), or entirely useless bullshit in order to support the ability to prescibe ethics (read some meta-ethics sometime, I recommend some nonsense by a chap nameed MacDowell who argues that morals exist as sensible qualities in the world, like color). However, as usual with me, my dislike does not arise from ignorance; I have read just about everything the kids will study for their intro to moral theory, so I can grade their papers without really going to the class.

Now I have to get everything together for my PhD applications, but at least I now have the time to do so.

Tomorrow, Tara and I will go to see King Kong. It's exactly the recreation I need right now.

To celebrate Yule, I think we're making some muffins and smoking some weed. Sounds good to me.

Enough of this.
