I feel very thankful to say that today I finished all of my official duties at UBC. I turned in my keys and everything. I would have preferred to skip invigilating an 8:30-11:00 am exam, but I got through it ok (due in no small part to coffee and a big cinnamon bun), and since I don't have to grade those exams, I have nothing...

I finished the main part of my last term paper today. I still have to go through, polish it up, and create the bibliography page, but that won't take too long. I finished well ahead of schedule, too so I'll have a few extra days off. On Monday, I have to drop off the papers that I should finish grading tomorrow, and on Wodan's Day...

Tonight, I finished one of my term papers. It came out longer than I was expecting, which was good. I think it's ok, but not my best work. The only paper left is the one for my Nietzsche seminar, and that one shouldn't take too long to write. I have to get everything done before the 21st because of graduation, but that shouldn't be too...

Congrats on Tulane. That's lovely. Isn't grad school selection insane though? Things you expect to happen never do. smile Good luck with your final papers.
sophronia:
congrats! I'm sitting here drinking my coffee reading your journal... procrastinating, as usual... I could finish my homework much faster if it wasn't for this damn computer...

too bad you couldn't get the fundage for hawaii, it's cool here.

I got funding from Tulane, so we're going to be heading down South once everything is settled up here. I'm pretty happy. It'll be nice to take home 12 grand per year just to take classes.

"Remember that the weirdo is just as scared by the normal man as the normal man is scared by the weirdo's reaction to him." - Rev. Ivan Stang, of the Sub-Genius

I sympathize with that line. Normal people bother me, and sometimes, I just can't sympathize. I sympathize with weird people and their problems much more consistently. It doesn't end at sympathy, though. It goes...

Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Giving every man a vote has no more made men wise and free than Christianity has made them good.

I got a good bit of work done on both of my papers. For my Nietzsche paper I made the outline more firm, then got it up to about 1000 words, meaning as far as word count goes, I'm 1/5 of the way done. For my logic paper, I developed a more clear topic and wrote about 400 words. From here, I can mostly put...

So, today I got an email from UHM, telling me that the loan limits don't quite apply because I'm going to be a PhD student. The email went on to say that they will let me know more via email in a few weeks. Now, in case you've lost track, I have to notify them of whether or not I'm going by April 10. Notice...

Today I got an acceptance letter from Tulane. I'm on the waiting list for funding, but the graduate chair said I was likely to get it once some offers are turned down, meaning that I'm high on the waiting list, which is good.

Now, it sounds like I have a choice of schools, but that's not quite the case. For Hawaii, I still have to...

yeah - smoking via water is essential and high temperature flame (torch) helps - but as near total sensory deprivation is the best aid... i don't know about the quality of the stuff you smoked, tho - if it was commercial theres no telling how long its been sitting in the sun or what have you - i've only ever smoked homegrown...

Yesterday, I got an acceptance letter from University of Hawaii at Manoa. I really wanted to get into that program because of their East-West philosophy emphasis. Unfortunately, they don't offer funding for first year students, so I'm in the process of working out how to finagle one year of tuition. Thanks to my soon-to-be completed MA, I'll be entitled to teach at community colleges as...

Hawaii vs. Canada. Hmmm. I'd find a way to go, if I were you. wink And though I'm hesitant to suggest it, as I'm currently facing a lifetime of debt payments: there's always student loans, right?

It may not sound like much, but I just hammered out what ought to become the first page of my term paper on Nietzsche. I set up the issues fairly well, and I just have to begin moving into the discussion once I get deeper into my sources. I need to produce an outline, likely before Wednesday would be good. I don't know how good...

I should have pegged you as a philosophy student. Somehow that just seems to fit. wink Good luck on the paper. I kind of miss writing term papers. Note: "kind of miss" being the operative phrase in this sentence. I think I just miss being in the envioronment where learning is my primary objective. Meh.

Awww...Leaving Van? That's too bad. Can't really say that leaving it for Hawaii is a bad thing though. tongue

And thanks for the comment! kiss
