Her pale, pinched lips, sunken eyes and wan, haggard cheeks
presented a mournful contrast to her former self.

I can always count on the Dictionary.com word of the day to greet me in my email when nothing else is to be found. This one struck my interest today.

I'm looking out the kitchen window right now and see that there is a giant rose bush with a bunch of huge flowers in the backyard "garden". No one attends to anything out there and this thing is growing like crazy and pushing up over the fence that divides ours and the neighbors yard in this laughable little suburbia. I'm sure there is some sort of life affirming concept that can be found in this imagery but nothing beyond the cliche has yet to come to me...
captaincrass:
Nature is blind to the confined ideas of man and his actions, and therefore; like everthing else that we think is subordinate, it is showing us how pathetic and selfish humans are. When you say "garden", your really just saying "mans manipulation of earth for his own pleasure". We have dissociated ourselves from earth so much that we clear-cut forrests, but then plant a rose bush in our yard and feel good about it. I guess we need that kind of "in touch" in our greed for space. Besides, who has time to actually go out into nature anyways, and think of all the bugs.

Or maybe its just a rose bush.
