Soo tired!
Went to college's garage sale, and bought a few things. 2 - 17 inch monitors, 2 - computer tower (parts only), an old printer cart (the type where the levels are adjustable, and the top has a hole in it for the type of computer paper that is all connected), and a computer chair with arms.
The printer cart has now become the place I set the 17 inch monitor (before the sale, I only had a 12 inch monitor, and i had one hell of a time seeing stuff). The desk I have (I got it from big lots a while ago) is not as sturdy as I feel it should be, and when a 17 inch monitor is on it, the desk would sway. So, with the printer cart, I can have the monitor on a sturdy place, yet not have it too far away.
As for the computer parts: that is a problem. I have my old computer parts, plus the 2 that I bought. My old motherboard and one of the new comoputers have the same processor, however the "new" computer has a differnt size power supply (my has a 250, while the other has a 200watt). Yet, because of the 3rd computer's oldness (it was a gateway tower, with a processor soo old that it uses a bar to pry it off the motherboard (one step past the old hard soldered processors).
Anyways, I tried to use the best of both computers:
my old computer = celeron, motherboard, sis video card, power supply (250 watts).
"new" computer = PII processor(I cannot see the difference between the celeron and the PII -- both fit into either board), sound card, video card, power supply (200 Watts).
Both have the same type RAM. The power supply is differnet -- one is two little slot connections (that make one big long connection) --- and the other is a double line power supply (this one only works a little bit- it stops sending power to the HD, etc after a ribbon is atttached,)
So, I ended up taking hte gateway tower (only had board and sound card) -- removing the board, and noting that the tower is setup to accept various styles of boards, so I installed my old board and all the other stuff - but here is the problem: my old board is on the way out (hence the reason I have a differnt desktop). So, it looks like I need to find a power supply that will work the other board -- but there is anotehr problem: no book for that motherboard, so I do not know where to hook all the case's wires (on/off, led lights, reset switch, etc) So even if I get a diff power supply, I dont know h0ow to get the connections right.
Anywyas, that is something I was tinkering with: maybe I will find time to putz around with it again.

p.s. still working on trying to get a notebook computer: one with all the things I mentioend a wihle ago in an entry: created a thread for it, and have some leads- but still have to figure out more yet.
