Last night was a crazy, wonderful night to be in heavily Democratic NYC. Strangers were talking to each other and hugging on the streets. I came home with a champagne buzz and a big smile. And I'm not gonna lie: Obama's speech brought tears to my eyes.

I totally agree. I spent hours communicating back and forth with my friends on SG, sharing this amazing victory and a truly historic moment. I would have contacted you as well, but wasn't sure of your politics.

Friends are DJing tomorrow night, and I'm going out for an evening of dancing for the first time in YEARS. I'm psyched. I've got an outfit planned and everything, because I'm a big dork. I'm trying to save money, so all I did was buy a $20 red dress, but dammit, it's cute! And I'm going to work it.

Going through my lesson plans and notes from this same time last year, I realize how far I've come. I have done so much work towards my own well-being, and it feels good.

oh man, you dont understand how that would make my life. For the past year i've been doing noooooothing. Honestly im afraid to continue my education-financially we cant afford for me to slack off or quit. I didnt get excellent grades in high school because my attendance was poor ( i was battling depression even then), so idk if my transcript would look too good.

im afraid my college experience will be just the same as my high school one-spotty attendence-so i've been too afraid to make an attempt. Now's the time for action though because about a month ago i was comitted into HArlem hospital's psych ward where i was diagnosed with chronic depression. I've been out for awhile but my depression is actually burgeoning because i'm locked up in this house, feeling like i no longer have direction in my life.

I know im wasting myself, always being told by the administration that i was one of the brightest intellectually (and knowing it, deep down). So im done being scared, i just dont know where to start now
=/
So any way you could help me would be appreciated WAAAY more than you know

Yesterday I went to see Religulous. I enjoyed the movie. Lots of laughs. I did not enjoy the experience I had with the woman who sold me the movie ticket.

You are so right. I would have thought that things would be settled in my life by now. The truth is, there are no set rules or expectations. Life can play tricks on you and turn things upside down at any age.

You're also right about my needing to figure out my prioriries. The comments and PMs I've received have really helped me figure out what those priorities are. Sometimes things are so obviously right in front of you, yet you can't see them on your own. I think this is what happened to me.

I've never been too proud to admit that I needed help with something and to reach out for it. That credo has proven invaluable in this case. I now understand much better that I was so inexplicably focused on one thing, namely sex, that I lost focus on everything else that this special woman has given, and continues to give me.

The honest to God truth is that Mae-Ann is the best thing that's happened to me since my wife passed away. I also understand more clearly that I can't afford to lose her. I have good friends like you to thank for helping me to see that. I realy appreciate it.
