In two weeks, I'll be visiting my brother in Oakland, CA. I'm looking forward to the trip, not only because I get to see my brother, but because I haven't taken a true vacation in a long time. I'm feeling a bit tired of New York, and I need to get away.

Thanks for the advice. I was going to do beans and tofu for my proteins. I'm only going to do it one day a week to start. Going to do oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, whole wheat toast with grilled mushrooms and veges for lunch and the brown rice with black beans and mango salsa for dinner.

I dont think I can do this more than once a week, I am reducing the amount of animal protein I am having by half so thats a good start.

Miss ya. Havent seen you in a while. I need to go out more. smile

yes absolutely!

I don't usually write fiction, but a friend and I have been going back and forth, writing stories in which we face off against Dracula and seduce priests and stuff. It's pretty awesome.

**Update/explanation**: The woman is a Thai actress named Vicki Sunisa Jett. I have a history of people I barely know comparing me to celebrities I do not remotely resemble, and this is the latest comparison on my list. I also find that I do not look like Jessica Simpson or Jennifer Lopez. Where does this shit come from?

I have a random, totally weird question....

Thank you for your kindness. I used to hold things in all the time. I realized that it was making me sick to do so. Now I express my feelings, sometimes to excess.

In Mae-Ann's case, having these feelings accumulate and fester inside of her has done irreparable damage to our relationship. If she would have made her feelings known, we might have been able to work things out. What I'll miss most is the companionship of a woman. This was my first "real" relationship since my wife passed away. I don't know if or when I'll find another one like it.

What baffles me the most is that she would do this at a time when she knows I'm trying to get out of the rut I'm in, what with the depression, anxiety and shortage of money. I shudder to think how I would have dealt with this if I wasn't on meds and wasn't in counseling.

I hope you're doing well.

I feel as though I may be leaving one of my closest friends behind. I met L in treatment about a year ago, and since then we've both made a lot of progress. I, however, have made more progress than she has. I eat. I maintain a healthy weight. I don't take pills, I don't self-harm, I don't usually abuse exercise or alcohol, and I've...

I'm glad to hear you're doing better. I know it's a struggle, which may seem strange to people that haven't gone through something like that, but it is. You're stronger than you realize.

It's sad to see situations like that, but it puts things in perspective. You can see how much progress you've made. It's worth doing whatever it takes to maintain that.

If you'll be out this weekend I'm dancing Saturday night. I'd go Friday but I have to work early Saturday.frown

Wow. Your friend clearly isn't in a place where she can afford to have that kind of influence in her life. There needs to be a separation for everyone's sake.

I had a very happy birthday. I hung out with Lauren, ate frozen yogurt, browsed in a few stores, saw and enjoyed Coraline, and had dinner and dessert.

Thanks to all who sent me wishes!

Happy Birthday, chica!kiss So glad I get to see you soon!

I loved Coraline, too. I want that squid!

When you were a kid, did you ever sing this song?

Nobody likes me
Everybody hates me
Guess I'll go eat worms

What a depressing children's song.

Anyway, that's pretty much how some people are making me feel right now.

I know I asked you about your b'day plans a few days ago. However, I didn't formally wish you a happy b'day. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
vegemite:
Happy Birthday!!! If I was still there I would totally bake you cupcakes!

I'm doing better this week, which I attribute to another change of meds. I was able to stay by myself, in my own apartment, every night. I'm still sad and lonely, but I'm more hopeful.

That's great news. I'm learning that a change in meds isn't that unusual. I just had mine changed because I was waking up in the morning feeling dopey and sluggish.

I can relate to loneliness. I've been alone for almost three and a half years since my wife's passing. I'm still suffering. Having a new woman in my life doesn't seem to make that much difference.

I love your new profile pic. You have the most beautiful smile.

I taught at both jobs today, in spite of being sick, and now I feel worse. As in, I think working today magically subtracted a day from the two days of rest I had and desperately needed. That's not just math, friends. It's EVIL math.
