Yeah she already knows. Im a fairly straight forward guy. She likes it the way it is, and she wants to deal with what she has before complicating her life. I can respect that, and wouldn't get involved with someone who will better deal her partner behind their back.

Looks like you are having fun Kyouto is a great place, especially the samurai movie set. Ahh how I envy you...that curry picture was honto natsukashii! I lived in Akita prefecture (in the north) and loved it, travelled around Japan quite extensively for having only lived there for a year. I think the best visit was to Sapporo for a week for the snow festival...they have heated sidewalks.

You should do fine there, linguistically speaking, as long as you stick to major cities. A year after I left, a friend went over for awhile and i Helped him adjust (via email) in his first 3 weeks in Sendai....and he didn't know any Japanese, nor did he want to learn. As long as you are trying, you'll kick ass! :-D
