I'm awaiting a snowstorm here in the Northeast. I'm out of town, at my parents' house, and I'm getting anxious that, if it snows as predicted, I won't get back to New York in time for work tomorrow. While this is just the sort of situation that happens occasionally, I'm worried that my very strict, old-school Japanese boss will be annoyed if I can't get back anyway. I mean, he wouldn't fire me or anything, but he would be unpleasant to deal with.
The holidays bring on so much stress for me that this relatively small problem feels like a big one. Focusing all this worry on the results of potential bad weather distracts me from other, more difficult things going on in my life. So while these worries feel bad, i suppose they serve their function.
