Possibly maybe inching towards being in a relationship, and I am shit scared. I'm trying not to shut down and ruin things. I think I'm doing OK, but opening up is a very slow process at the moment. Maybe that's how it should be, but I do feel very, very guarded.

Otherwise, I really hope that when one of my students wrote, "I would like to drink wine with you, waltz with you, and kiss you behind your ear," he was talking about a general "you" and not me, personally.

What grade do you teach? If you're teaching a writing class, I probably wouldn't get shook up on what one of your students wrote. It probably was a general "you". As long as you don't open all your classes with "If only I could find someone to drink wine with me, waltz with me, and kiss me behind my ear", I'd say you're o.k. wink

Yeah, reading that from a student can be unsettling. I hope his sentiments are generic and if not, that he doesn't expand on what he's already written.

Relationships are scary rergardless of where someone is coming from. You're wise to recognize your vulnerability and are taking it slow. Remember, slow and steady is almost always the way to go.
