The decision has turned out not to be as drastic as I thought. I was going to announce a move to Japan. Instead, I'm sharing some information I discovered on Sunday: my boyfriend has a wife in his home country.

I was blindsided by that information. And then I had another decision to make.

For various reasons that all make perfect sense to me, and with my eyes completely open, I'm going to enjoy the month I have left with him before he goes back to Japan. I know that, right now, we love each other. He says he wants to find a new job and come back to New York-- sans wife-- but I know, in all likelihood, I won't see him again after he leaves. It's just against his nature to leave his wife, and divorces are rare in Japan, no matter how unhappy one's marriage may be.

Judge if you must. Just make sure you go fuck yourself immediately afterwards.

I may still move to Japan when I finish my Ph.D. It seems a good idea for a number of reasons having nothing to do with the boy. But I'll save that blog and that decision for later.
