since when did the us have a second language? and when did it become normal for every sign to have a spanish equivilant right next to it or above it? when did it become mandatory to be fluent in spanish in order to be a cashier in a grocery store? now, i have no problem with immigrants of any culture, but if you move to a country, learn the damn language! intead, we are making concessions for people who come into our country to take part in our way of life. if you want to be an american, great, good for you, good luck, but don't expect us to learn your language, so you can live in our country. now, when you go to apply for a job, they often have the application printed in spanish on the back. you can take the driving exam in almost 20 languages! how are you supposed to drive if you can't read the signs? i'm sick and tired of getting on the bus, and all of the signs are in spanish. why is english turning into a minority language in a country where it is supposedly our official language? and those who do learn it, even people who are born in the country, barely have a grasp on the language. they are teaching reading in college english classes. are americans that dumb? have we become so stupid and complacent that we don't even learn our own language? if the natives don't even learn english, how can we expect immigrants to?
