yesterday, i walked home from work. in anchorage there is a nice coastal bike trail that shortens the distance between downtown and my house. there are also train tracks that follow the same route before taking a left into a wooded area between 2 nice, rich, neighborhoods.

i was kind of jogging down the tracks when i felt like i was being watched. this little greenbelt between water, and city has a well developed system of foot paths, and animal trails. it would not have been improbable that a hungry spring bear looking to break his fast after a long winters nap might have been watching me. i slowed to a walk. if you run you are food, if you don't.... it's less likely that your food. i stopped and turned around.

10 yards down the tracks was a red fox with a black face. he was either not right in the head, and sick, or just curious because he followed me for a half mile. running when i ran, walking when i walked, and watching me when i stopped to watch him. it was cool, and a little creepy. it was only a fox but i was still being stalked by a creature with wild intentions.
