So, now I've done it. I've broken down and actually got myself on a REAL MMORPG. NO, not World of Warcraft... I'm not THAT far gone, yet.
Mike and I were wandering about Arundel Mills, as we are wont to do, and we noticed that FFXI Online (and all 3 expansion packs) was on sale for $20. First month free! So I figured, why the hell not?
After the four hour installation process (had to download all those patches), I intelligently tried to play without reading any sort of documentation.
It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to move. After that, I did something, and I couldn't figure out how to move, because every time I tried to move, I ended up just typing numbers.
I went to sleep.
When I woke up, I realized I could use my gamepad to play, so I did. Now I can actually PLAY the game, but I still suck at it. Also... you have to pay extra to get more than one character? What's up with that?
Not sure if I'll actually pay for any month beyond the first, yet. I like the fact that there's not a lot of people on the server; I don't like crowded games.
Otherwise, my life is boring as ever.
