to be honest most of my life is not going as planned, at least not at the moment. but the one thing that is working out just fine is living in alaska again. i love it.

for thanksgiving, i drove about 200 miles south of anchorage, in a snow storm, to have dinner at my parents cabin. on the way back, i was coming out of the mountains, and heading along side a body of water known as the turnigan arm. the tide was out, so there were huge chunks of ice covered in fresh snow, sitting in the mud waiting for the water to come back.

it looked like a picture of mars except white instead of red, and the contrast of the sky that was opening up above it made for the most shockingly vivid blue i've ever seen. add a sun, on it's way to setting on the horizon, and mountains that pretty much just drop off into the water, and i found myself taking in a brand of beauty that made me feel truly small.

ok, so it would be really easy to freeze to death here, and there is good chance of being eaten by something in the summer time, but there is no better place for me to live. i've had hypothermia, and it was ok, until i had to warm up. i've stood on trails with bears, and i understand what humble means. dark all winter, light all summer. i live in a land of extremes, and it's home. everwhere else will always be a vacation place.

now, if i could meet a woman, who knew how to tell the truth, and wasn't on mood stablelizing perscription drugs, i'd be happy as a clown getting a handjob. hmmmm... i'm not sure what that means exactly, but it was fun to write. wink

Your description of Turnagain arm was awesome! Thank you; I've been needing some reminding of the beauty that surrounds me. love

It's a Geography and Geosystems class. Sounds boring but it's actually pretty interesting. We get to go on field trips all over Anchorage and look at he glacial features.
