Long time, no blog!

Hey loves!

It's been some gorram time since my last blog, apologies for that! For the past few months, I've been trying to focus on improving my approach to life; attempting to be more optimistic, without relying too heavily on games and media to lose myself, hence the slowdown in posting and complete lack of ps4 in my life haha! I've also been lucky enough to have a new person in my life, who helps me to be less pessimistic and enjoy life so much more! We've been on sun-rise hikes (unheard of for me, I am NOT a morning person haha!), star/meteor gazing missions; they've generally just brought happiness and enjoyment into my life that I'd forgotten I was missing!

I've also finally started my first year studying Archaeology, and despite the intensity of the course, I'm really loving it. When I first applied, I had no idea what I really wanted to do with the degree, but I loved archaeology; the mystery, the puzzles, and the stories that can be pieced together from the physical past. Now I'm finally feeling like I've found my calling; osteoarchaeology (bones!) and palaeopathology (disease) have caught my attention, in an unexpected manner if I'm honest! I expected to only really be fascinated by the ancient, the prehistoric; but in only a few months I've learnt SO much, and I've enjoyed almost every minute of it.

In other news, I have two sets waiting in the queue to go into MR: 'Familiar Taste of Poison', the first set @laughingorc and I shot together (we've shot a lot of epic stuff together since and have some awesome ideas in the pipeline!); and 'Witchy Woman', which was shot with the AMAZING @gemmaedwardsuk, both of which I'm really excited for you all to see, I'm absolutely in love with them! Here's a cheeky preview for each:

Familiar Taste of Poison (1 month, 1 week 'til MR!)

Witchy Woman (3 months, 2 weeks 'til MR!)

I'm working on lining up some shoots before the next SGUK Shootfest (which I am SUPER excited about; I've missed my girls like crazy!!) so keep an eye out, and if you're a photographer interested in working with me, please do hit me up!

Big love and hugs <3

I love archaeology - I used to work in my local museum, and, as such, had to have a working knowledge of the exhibits therein. The museum I worked in was the one that Sutton Hoo excavator Basil Brown knew best, and contains many items he discovered. He was an 'amateur' in that he had no formal training, but he did have a weird, almost preternatural sense about what was under the soil. Anyway, I used to enjoy looking at finds in the museum. I like the names given to objects, too. My favourite was a Victorian name for flint tools that looked like parrot's beaks (most weren't tools at all, but archaeology was in it's infancy then); they were called 'Rostro-Carinates'. A lovely name. If one were to have an archaeological 'hero', I could never choose one, but the Italian strongman, Belzoni, would be near the top. Augustus Pitt-Rivers  would be on my list, but his sheer dreadfulness as a person disqualifies him. Sir Arthur Evans, technically blind, but still did great work at Knossos. Basil Brown, of course, and the great Sir Mortimer Wheeler, best known for his work at Maiden Castle, where he dismayed the establishment by letting the public through the barriers to watch the dig - and even got loads of 'sling shot stones' bagged up and sold as souvenirs. He is possibly top of my list - I have watched old TV shows of him, and he seems to have been a thouroughly nice bloke.
