Shit last week I was so productive. So much work and play. I e-mailed Eddie Flowers (Gizmos- old Indiana punk legends) and he promptly e-mailed me back. One of my Mentors was evicted from his trailer- so I busted my ass, and managed to save all his crap before the cops could get to his trailer. He has a bad spinal injury, and would have been screwed if I wasn't available. Me and my bro Huffy caught Dr. Know at the Lion's Lair. I had never heard Dr. Know before, but it turns out, I had, had a drink with Brandon Cruz at Al's Bar (RIP) a long time ago(Duanne Peters's present Bass player was also a Los Angeles drinking buddy). I barely remember him, but I remember we talked about the Germs. Also LBRO had a great set(as always), to my surprise the Front Side Five had a killer set. I've seen the Front Side Five many times before, and had not enjoyed them at all, but this time they blew shit out of the water. It was quite a pleasant surprise. I steam cleaned my condo, and my old bedroom at my parents. Help lay 30 tons of asphalt. Put together a resume, cut stencils, got photos to Cecil for a press kit. Saturday was a blast. I went to the band safe house and ran into my old Bass player Derrek. I learned he has a new baby boy. He then invited he to go four wheeling above Empire. All summer I've wanted an excuse to hit the hills so it was an offer I couldn't refuse. 3/4s of the way up a very steep, and vicious jeep trail to a very remote lake we cut our transmission fluid line. We stopped, and Shot an AR-18 and 9 mm for a while. He has the best targets, used up cans of spray window insulation. You have no trouble telling when you've got a solid hit on used spray window insulation, it either blows up making huge beautiful mess, or if it doesn't blow, it streams out like a giant baby taking a 40 foot tall flopping fire hose piss. We bullshitted and caught up on a lot of stuff. Then like wild crazy idiots, we pushed his 4 by 4 around, and coasted back into Empire. Fixed the line in Idaho Springs and went home. I enjoyed the company of some of his bros. Sunday, was great to nine hours in the Studio, and my band and I walked out with something we could be proud of. We still have a lot of work to do. I wish we had bass player, our last bass player left us to prospect for a Motor Cycle club, so he is not available(He also works a takes care of 4 kids). We'd be gigging to high hell if we had some one to play. Our next gig is when ever the last gig at Monkey Mania is. (Monkey Mania is finished this month if I've heard right). On Monday I found a great find. I found a turn table, 8 track player, 2 track to cassette recorder all in one at a yard sale in town. I even has its original paper work. I don't think the old lady(RIP) that owned it had used it very much. The best part is I only paid five dollars for it. I know the record player works. I still haven't checked the 8 track and two track recorder, yet I've so busy, but for 5 dollars you can't go wrong. On ebay I found the Rare LP Simon Stokes & the Black Whip Thrill Band (BAD ASS BIKER LEGEND) for next to nothing and nailed it. I also found a Oingo Boingo record for a quarter at the Thrift store, and old vintage flapper dresses that barely fit me for a dollar a piece(I'll do something crazy in them soon.) Read two books. All this I did clean, soon I'll have been booze clean for a year. (LSD and Mushrooms not included). When I was drinking I did drugs, but only what was kicked down to me. I found most drugs very disappointing. I doubt if this week will be this much fun, but who knows...
... I know I've deserved a kick ass week like this for a long time.
