Another Sunday morning, and in spite of the barely four hours of sleep I netted last night, I'm glad to be awake. Job number one is done today, Job number two awaits but that will be a breeze once I've scripted my show (playlist is done, woohooo!).

Nashua is definitely a tax-free extension of Mass... in my high school German class we learned to say "Ich komme aus Nashua, das ist ein Vorort von Boston" (I come from Nashua, it is a suburb of Boston).

Dartmouth? Shit you live by the college? My cousin goes there, she was just in town playing in the big #1Dartmouth vs. #2Minnesota women's hockey game.

My job brings me to some of the strangest places a New Englander would think of to ski. Last year it brought me to Michigan. This year my ski adventures took me on a loop from Western PA, down through Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia and back up to PA yet again.

I think that album cover is amazing. You have very good taste! I think if you were to really go for it the tatoo would look awesome between and a little above the shoulder blades about four inches or so in diameter.. The sun and moon! You must be a very balanced guy.
kaitee:
Celine Dion, Mariah Carey (pre "hip-hop"), Bryan Adams, lots of random country, and I swear sometimes she plays Michael Bolton. Funny thing is, she only plays them when she thinks I'm not around - when she KNOWS I'm here she'll usually play something still pretty bad, along the lines of 3 Doors Down or something..I do my best to ignore her though..
I hope to get back to skiing tomorrow. It's been forever. Perhaps I'll travel down to Crotched Mountain which opened for the first time since the late 80s this season. Either that or I'll come home after work and climb into my new flannel sheets and enjoy the, errm, ambiance.

Please, NordiGoddess, lest we forget Don't Take Me Alive?

The question is... is the sunburn outlined by your goggles, and better, yet, wil it fade to the oh-so-desireable goggletan? ^_^
You're in NH, yet you go to ski in Virginia? I've been down to NH/Vermont?maine to ride a bunch.. it's always been quite pleasant. What's it like in Virginia?

I am still up. Normally on a Saturday night, when the world is alive, I'm buried in sheets for that brief Sunday morning stint of work I get into in winter. Bah. 3:45 am til about 7:30 isn't that long of a day but it sho' is a pain in the ass.

yesterday i spent about 30 minutes singing the praises of Hal Blaine. and then i read your byrds related post.
most people say, "who?"
i think he's the second most important person on Pet Sounds.

Here I sit, about to nod off in front of the computer after a back-breaking week of working the regular job and also filling in for about half the staff of the radio station. THUD. I'd say "it's over" but every time I do some other surprise fill-in opportunity presents itself. Once I'm there, I don't seem to mind, I've been doing the old afternoon...

Thanks for reminding me about "Heyday".
God, I used to just love that album.
I probably haven't heard it in over 15 years.
I'll have to go find.
I'm lucky (and old) enough to have seen the Church open for Echo & The Bunnymen.
Cheers.

Each year on my Sunday night radio show I'll do an hour of holiday-themed "lost classics." I decided to wrap my show up this evening with a cut from Mr. Alice's Restaurant, Arlo Guthrie. It's a tune few know but I dare anyone to find any irrelevance in this song in these turbulent times. Plus, this guy's a hoot.
Check it out.
Happy Holidays.

this is something i've always wanted to say... but "the royal scam" is my favorite dan album by far. and no, no, ain't never gonna do it without the fez on, neithah.
always interesting backstories with a lot of dan songs. like "the caves of altamira" - based on a true story about a boy who discovered some of the oldest known cave paintings on his family's estate in france. he used to go into the caves as a child, and for many years, those paintings were his little secret. there's something so magical about that.

yeah, we're a small independently owned station in columbus, ohio. we've beaten a clear channel attempted takeover ... twice.
we're "alternative" ... "the alternative station." right now, we're doing our top 2004 most requested songs in the thirteen plus year history of the station. "david watts" by the kinks, some urge overkill on the way.
but mainly, during regular rotation, we're white stripes, red hot chili peppers, tori amos, nirvana, the polyphonic spree, etc. yeah, and elvis costello was super cool. it was over 90 degrees here, and he showed up in a winter coat and hat.

So, all I do is work and stuff. Stuff including drinking coffee and contributing to severe malnutrition and such. Each December I get myself into a situation where I fill in at the radio station to cover various responsibilities while the full time staff is involved in charity events and vacations and the like. All this after working job number one from 4:00 am til...

It's time to write my obligatory bi-monthly journal entry
Not much to say except it's moments before 10pm EST and I should be in bed, since I'm back on my "winter schedule" again.

So I log into SG this evening after another grueling day at the job. I was dismembered from the site for reasons unknown... until I actually read the email that said "Goodbye from SuicideGirls." Turns out I forgot to submit new card info since mine expired last month. D'oh! All that changed was one digit yet I had to go through the motions once again....

hey, you posted in the beatles thread, so maybe you can help me out....
one of my favorite beatles song is the one that goes "if you wear red tonight..." but for the life of me i can't remember the name of it. i thought it was on the second anthology, which i don't have. do you have any idea what song i'm thinking of?
a good friend of mine is love with the beachwood sparks, but i've never rreally heard them. i'm pretty sure he's in the love with brian eno too.

So anyway, it's another hot sticky evening, my beisbol game is on... and just found out the "lost weekend" in RI has been canceled due to "scheduling conflicts/lack of interest." Therefore I have to dismantle my well-made plans to travel this weekend and come up with some other form of debauchery.
Fockers.
It's alright, I'm sure I can get another weekend off in 2004....

Well worth the money, especially considering the fact that their tours never cover the same ground everytime. The closest they came to Minne for Two Against Nature was Chicago, and I ain't drivin' 7 hours to see a concert... again.
