I seem to always be drawn to performances by old-fart-rock-and-rollers in small venues. I've seen Richie Havens, Roger McGuinn and Arlo Guthrie up here in New Hampshire on the "Opera House Circuit" and they've all been great.

Next up: the great and sometimes misunderstood Al Kooper. Misunderstood in that he's not Alice Cooper, but Al Kooper. Played organ on Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone," piano organ and French horn on the Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," played on countless others' records, allowed America to be exposed to the Zombies' "Odessey and Oracle," lead singer of the Blues Project, founder of Blood Sweat and Tears (they turned to shite the minute he quit), originator of the "Super Session," discoverer/producer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and so so much more. Not a bad solo career to boot even if he didn't sell lots of records. Lots of musical history there so me and my equally musically geeky high school bud Dan are gonna check him out in Northampton MA in a couple of weeks.

Fucking Santa's on Coke bottles already. Fuck you, Santa!

I think I might grow the facial hair out again. I'm looking almost exactly like my profile pic right now, although that was taken nearly a year ago. I'll probably abandon that plan by Thanksgiving, not wanting to go home looking like a bum n' all. bok
