So Thursday night they did the "open call" for the PA announcer for the new Double-A baseball team in Manchester. Turns out it was a big media event, both WMUR and WNDS had camera crews and reporters there, and theUnion Leader covered the event and stuck it on Friday's front page. I was confident enough in my speaking voice that I didn't have too many worries on whether or not I'd advance to the final round, but I was one of the few who wasn't doing over-the-top antics or trying to be cornily funny. As they say in the broadcast industry, "stick to the script." Anyway, I was amongst the top five finishers out of 95 or so people... so that was a nice little distinction to inflate my ego I'll find out more tomorrow but apparently the five top finishers will rotate public address announcing duties, which I'm fine with, given the distance I am from Manchester.

Apparently my program director at the radio station I part-time for wants to market my long-running "Deep Cuts" show to other stations, which is great news. I'm thinking a little monetary negotiations will be in order though if we're going to take this next step. I'm just hoping my programming autonomy with this show doesn't change.

In other news, I'm borrowing the company XM reciever for a few days. Listening to Deep Tracks, Fred, Ethel, and also The Loft, whose music director is an old co-worker of mine. I don't want to give the reciever back. FM has become a joke.

I've got an ex trying to deliver a belated birthday present. No idea what this gift could be. Does this mean I have to get her something now?
