Only my second entry of '05. Not turning out to be a banner year for journal updates, so for that I'll burn in hell or eat a piece of chicken or something.

I've barely been on here lately, too busy/too tired/trying to ski more often. Hit Waterville Valley on Tuesday, and the skis are currently at the shop getting a good sharpen-and-wax for Saturday, as...

Happy New Years kids.

Good party, no kiss, but who needs a New Year's kiss anyway whatever err, I'll leave that alone. Seeing some old friends I hadn't seen in years was good. Two of those friends are getting married later this year, so that was great to hear, they've been going out since college.

Boston sucks when it's New Years Day and nothing's open. At...

Two-thousand-four. What can I say about this year, really, aside from thank you, Red Sox. Thank you Curt Schilling. Thank you Johnny Damon. "Thank you very much David Ortiz!" Thank you Theo. Thanks for the great years, Pedro. (They'll love your pitching and hate your incredibly prickticious personality in New York, Petey).

The Sox winning the series was one of the few highlights of an...

Merry Christmas! biggrin

The Pause of Mr. Claus
words and music by Arlo Guthrie

This next song we're going to dedicate to a great American
organization. Tonight I'd like to dedicate this to our boys
in the FBI.

Well, wait a minute. It's hard to be an FBI man. I mean, first
of all, being an FBI man, you have to be over 40 years old....

Hilarious! And I finally listened to the mp3, loved it!! Too funny, I'm jealous of your job! And since you sent it to me you get to find out a geeky little secret about me - I am a huuuuge Steve Miller fan. Yes, that's right, I'm a member of the fan club and get periodic updates re:Steve Miller news. I was also probably the youngest person at the Calgary show that stood in the front row and sang along to every single song. So I'm glad to hear your station plays him. he rocks. wink Hope you're having a wooonderful holiday season filled with tonnes and tonnes of snow!! kiss

I realized, for the first time since buying that cheap-ass outdoor thermometer at Ass-Mart, that it stops at zero. blackeyed This doesn't help me at all today.

Last night, tracking my airshift before I went to bed, I looked up a few temps around the world. It was warmer in Barrow Alaska, Rekyavik, Iceland and Helsinki, Finland than it was here in New Hampshire. And Antarctica,...

Too busy for SG lately. frown

Night all.

Dana, Enfield, Greenwich, Prescott. Four Massachusetts towns that no longer exist due to the Quabbin Reservoir. I'm such a geek it's sick. wink

Is it me, or 41 years later, does Bob Dylan's "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" album still sound fresh and relevant?

Apparently a co-worker of mine once wrote for The Family Guy, including the "new" old episode that was on last night. So someone tells me.

What's with the Red Sox getting big tubby drunken David Wells? If only we still had Rod Beck to clean up...

blush I totally suck. I have still yet to listen to your mp3 but I promise I will soon!! I am sure you can relate/understand as it's been snowing for well over a week in the rockies!! It's divine. I literally couldn't be happier, unless of course I won a large sum of money and could quit my job and just ride full time biggrin Dare to dream hey? I <3 Family Guy...and watched the show last night, it was funny as usual. I agree wholeheartedly re: mail in rebates. I don't think I've ever sent one in on time...I'm sure that's what they're counting on. I'm crossing my fingers, my whole body, for your snowy prediction to come true. kiss
jule:
Skiing being better usually means yucky snow. Poutage. I'm not sure if I feel like being happy about that.

So the Letterman, thing. There has to be a story on that. I was on the Tonight Show for all of four seconds last year during the primaries. Wesley Clark almost walked into me. Apparently that made me newsworthy.

I mailed in my rebate for US Cellular today. I can't believe how much they want you to mail in with it. The form, the box UPC, the reciept, a blood sample, your first grade report card...

Today was bill day. Credit card, cable, cellphone, electric... I always seem to pay them all on the same day. I wonder if, somewhere out there in radio land, there's a jock who calls himself "Electric Bill." I wonder if he gets laid much.

One envelope I wasn't expecting was from U.S. Cellular... no, not my telephone bill, but a notice from the human resources...

Just watch Ed Bradley's interview of Bob Dylan on 60 Minutes. "nothing is revealed..."

Last night I saw Al Kooper perform at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA. Kooper of course was Dylan's right-hand keyboard man during his most influential period. Decent show, the guy was in surprisingly good voice. Funny guy too. Most of the instrumentation came via a Korg Triton, which just ain't...

"Maybe some better writing is in order here..." wink

Ski reports first thing in the AM tomorrow. Then off to Okemo for a few hours of skiing. Then Saturday is Northampton, MA and the Al Kooper show with my old grade school bud Dan. Somewhere in there, I will get more sleep than the pathetic hours I've logged since Thanksgiving day.

Today I got a jump-start on producing my Sunday evening radio show. For some reason, speaking didn't come easy, as it took take after take for me to get my scripted lines down (I script this particular show out to give it that smooth, professional sound to it). I collected a few outtakes and made an MP3 of them... if you want to hear my...

news. digging up, writing, reporting. i had a couple dj shifts too.. my favorite was on the oldies station. we only play 50s and 60s on that one.. it's legitimate oldies. the library is over 2,100 songs. (our music director is the rainman of music.. he has every album of every artist that's ever been on any billboard chart ever. since 1896. on its original format, cd, and mp3.. and he knows them all. but he's literally a genius. he should be mensa, but he doesn't see the point.) i just got tired of it, though. they hired me at 14 (hello labor laws) to do some basic board running.. during games, etc.. but on like, my second day, my boss was like. ok. your voice is too good for this. and gave me an air shift. lucky for me, a couple months later their PM news director quit.. i was there that day, did the broadcast. filled in "temporarily" every day - including holidays - for 5 years. in high school, the principal gave me a permission thing to leave school at 1 to go to work, and get A credits for 2 classes. (on my transcript and grade card, they show up as "office attendant" and guidance something or other.. but hey, free gpa boost and a paycheck, i'll take it.) it was pretty awesome, but i got tired of it. well, tired of the town i was living in, anyway. i dunno.. i'd go back to radio probably, but it's not a passion anymore. and around here, stations are so cut-throat. they'll call you while you're on air at your current station and be like ..hey. we think we might have a job you'd be interested in. that's some bullshit. or maybe i'm too loyal. i still do voiceover stuff for a couple stations where i have friends and PA for a ladies' basketball tournament held every year here. that's fun.. i like that stuff.

does your place use SS32/voicetrax? i noticed you were talking mp3, and i know ss32 uses mp2 and wav... but there are so many other programming schedulers. or did you record it, burn it, rip it? (i'm too impatient for that.. minidiscs are my bitches if i can't just edit on the computer.)
sweetbean:
Sorry it's taken me ages to reply blush

the mp3 sounds intriguing! I'll "contact" you smile And I say, nuttin' wrong with being metro. I'm impressed btw, I rarely brush my hair let alone purchase and use "product" wink

Hmm, snow, well, we've got 26" of base, not much yet but gettin' there...Sunshine doesn't make snow (but they sure move it around a lot) so it can get icy (and rocky and tree-ey tongue) but some snow is better than no snow...Louise makes snow therefore is not my favourite and they don't get as much of the white stuff all around...when does it really start dumping over there?

Thx for complimenting my pix...you are truly too kind. blush Hope all is well with you!! kiss
