There is nothing more painful so far that I have experienced than spending the last 48 hours gutting and completely rearchitecting something that my own company spent over a year designing (and designing it poorly).
My brain hurts.
On top of that, while my changes have made the client happier than a pig in shit (because they'll finally get what they will be paying almost 100 million dollars for), the original architects are pretty pissed at me. Maybe if they weren't such fucking morons and actually knew how to design application architectures with security AND the client's requirements in mind, I would have actually gotten some damned sleep in the last who knows how many days.
Other than that, Philly is great. My good friend Gauss has been helping me keep my sanity with awesome Afghani and Persian food and coffee. Course, hanging out with me ended up costing him about 200 to 300 dollars since he fell in love with my Sidekick II and had to immediately go off and buy one. And now THAT is costing each of his co-workers about the same amount, since they are all falling in love with HIS Sidekick II and are running off to buy one. T-Mobile should be paying ME at this point as many of those things as I have gotten sold for them.
At least I know they'll be ONE decent developer working on the Sidekick platform now.
