Lets see, what should I talk about today? Starting today I have the next 5 days off. It was supposed to be just 4 days but I ended up taking today off because my knees were killing me. I actually blew through my first pair of nursing shoes. Bought them brand new about six months ago. Wore em everday I worked. Never wore em anyplace else.
Tomorrow I am going to get a pair of Danskos.
I know nurses that have had theirs for years. And they give excellent support.
Yesterday was horrible. I had 4 patients. One had to be sent to the ICU, which is bigh ordeal and a lot of drama. Another one kept crashing blood sugars. I had to give him an amp of D5 4 times in one shift! Another patient kept having repeats of the event that brought her to the hospital. I was running my ass off all day. It was completely high stress. I felt awful for my one stable patient. She was dischared at about 1:00 but I coudn't get to her DC paper work until almost 6:00. She was so sweet about it because she could hear me running around in the hallway like a mad woman. Although I could tell she was really ready to go at the end.

I apologize to all yall for not really being around much. I haven't been keeping up with everyones blogs. I do feel kinda bad about it. And its not just my SG friends that I have been neglecting, its my friends here in town also. This is just a busy phase of my life right now. Its gonna be this way for years to come. I'm sure of it. When I have time. I selfishly spend it with my child. I sometimes turn my phone off so that no one will call and take my attention.

I know how difficult being a nurse is. I'm friends with two other nurses here. All of you have written about similar experiences. I think nurses are true heroes.
Try to get some rest and do some of the things that give you pleasre. I hope you're able to return to work refreshed and energized.
