I just finished reading Valley of the Dolls. I HATED it. Okay, so that's not entirely true. Actually I couldn't put the book down. It's just that it left me with a sick feeling in my stomach. There is no storybook romance, no happily ever after. I'm not smiling.
Perhaps it's time for a much lighter read...

You should give comic books a go. They are a pretty light read

I would try a Florida author like Tim Dorsey or Carl Hiaasen. They're both really quirky, insane, and funny. Striptease and Tourist Season by Hiaasen are excellent and Florida Roadkill and Orange Crush are two of Dorsey's best.
